Lumaglass™ - Our lamp lifespan

The useful life of a Lumaglass™ electroluminescent lamp varies by application, and is contingent on brightness, duty cycle and ambient temperature. 

Unlike other light sources, Lumaglass™ never burns out completely; the lamp slowly loses brightness over time. As the lamps do not burn out, talk of its "Half-Life" is not an appropriate measure, therefore, we prefer to discuss with clients the "Useful-Life" of a Lumaglass™ screen. 

Based on our experience to reach 50% "Useful-Life" brightness, you can expect a minimum of:

• 4 years based on a 12 hour cycle running for 5 days per week
• 6 years based on a 8 hour cycle running for 5 days per week

To be clear, the lamps will continue to work for many years beyond this time and it would be a subjective call as to whether they would require replacing.

Useful-Life expectancy can be prolonged further if the screen is animated.  Switching the lamps on and off does not harm them in any way - in fact it helps by prolonging their "Useful-Life".

 
With an additional Fading Module option, we can set screen to fade smoothly on and off in a number of patterns.
