- NP (Normal Profile)
- SP (Special Profile)
It depends on structural, wind loading and performance
requirements.
> NP profile is usually recommended for internal or standard
glazing applications. Glass thickness is 6mm with a flange of
41mm.
> SP profile is usually recommended for external applications.
Glass thickness is 7mm with a flange of 60mm.
The glass can be laid vertically or horizontally.
> On glazing with a greater length to height ratio; vertical
glazing is recommended.
> On glazing with a greater height than width ratio; horizontal
glazing is recommended.
Maximum manufactured glass length is 7000mm.
It depends on wind loading on the building; both positive and negative pressures. Consult span charts in our Architectural Specification Manual(see Download section).
- Normal Profile (NP) is available in 262mm (NP26) and 331 mm
(NP3) widths.
- Special Profile (SP) is available in 232mm (SP2), 262mm (SP26)
and 331mm (SP3) widths.
Clear glass is only available in the 262mm (NP26 or SP26) glass
width.
Consult span charts in our Architectural Specification Manual (see
Download section) for the capabilities of each glass type and glass
width.
The glass is available with three levels (from most translucent
to most opaque)
1. Clear Glass (not float quality) with a flat surface
finish.
2. Cast Glass (obscure) with a mottled surface finish.
3. Sandblasted glass to the internal surface on either Clear or
Cast glass. Sandblasted glass is also available with a colour
wash.
All glass types given above can be requested as samples.
It depends on:
- Your project and the architectural effect that you want to
create.
- The performance criteria for the glass.
- What span is required.
- What colour is required.
- What surface finish is required.
- What level of translucency ⁄ opaqueness is required.
It depends on your project. However, we recommend using double glazing for most applications.
Single glazing is only suitable for cladding externally first floor and above with no possibility of impact on the glass.
The wires allow the glass to be used in areas of possible impact and allow the glass to break in safe manner. 8 wires are incorporated in our 262mm glass panels and only 7 wires in the 232mm glass.
Panels are available without wires however if there is any possibility of impact the glass will require to be Toughened.
There are no typical costs to be given as there are not 2 projects alike (depends on glass types chosen, location and area of glazing).
Please contact our sales team who will be able to evaluate costs for your specific project. We usually provide a quotation within 5 working days.
- Sound insulation as a RW Value is 38db for NP double glazed
system.
- Sound insulation as a RW Value is 41db for SP double glazed
system.
- U Value is 2.7 with standard glass.
- U Value is 1.8 if Plus (low emissivity) coating used on one leaf, applied to surface three of the double glazed installation.
- Lower U Value are possible with insulation material. Contact us for further information.
