Lumaglass™ - Who we are
Lumaglass™ was formed in 2006 as a division of Westcrowns Contracting Services.
As an innovative product, Lumaglass™ is a natural evolution for the company's established U-shaped profile glazing system. Working closely with architects and designers, we have learned to keep an open mind with our technical expertise in the field based on over 137 years of glazing experience within The Westcrowns Group. Aiming not to pay lip-service to a design brief but rather to rise to the technical and creative challenge of delivering practical, but no less impressive, illuminated solutions.
With many years of experience in the design and development of U-shaped glazing systems, combined with a unique electroluminescent lighting technology, the Lumaglass™ team is acknowledged as the experts in their field of illuminated profiled glass. With qualified engineers, CAD facilities, on-site and off-site testing experience, Lumaglass™ offer your project team real expertise and advice on a vast array of possible illuminated glazing systems.
Lumaglass™ is a simple yet effective concept of self-supporting u-shaped glass channels and electroluminescent lighting with various colour options, adhered to the inside flange of the channel. This is fitted into an extruded aluminium perimeter frame that enables the creation of many innovative and exciting architectural designs.
This fundamental simplicity and versatility permits the designer to create exciting architectural effects that make imaginative use of internal illuminated partitions, creating a feeling of space, and, defining stunning external facades.

Lumaglass™ offers:
- World's longest light- length can be up to 7 metres long to fit current U glass channel lengths, providing continuous illuminated walls of light
- Environmentally friendly- electroluminescent lamps contain no glass or gas, generate virtually no heat and consume less than 5% of energy used by neon and cathode lighting. It also reduces light pollution.
- Thermal insulation- incorporating a translucent glass fibre insulation material enables scattering of illuminated light with excellent W/m2K values
- Extensive colour range- standard lamp colours are either white or aqua with options to apply any colour gel to achieve desired colour effects
- Little to no maintenance- the light source itself never "burns out" like traditional light sources; it gradually fades away over a product life that can span many years
- Practical design process- Lumaglass™ is extremely versatile in its simplicity with a range of specification variants of colours and glass types allowing designers creative freedom with little constraints
- Few components- with a practical design process, we provide a glazing system capable of being illuminated, curved, cut to shape or installed to slopes
- Reduction in visible framework- provides clean uninterrupted lines and a striking appearance
- Internal partitioning or cladding- within the office, workplace or home allowing excellent light transmission, whilst maintaining privacy
- Large glass façades- offering maximum levels of natural light into the building during day time and stunning illumination at night that can also be animated
Lumaglass™ can be fitted where many traditional lighting systems cannot be used in U profile glazing or where high maintenance accessibility is a concern.
